Professional translation services providers know that the Thai language has it own sets of linguistics and cultural obstacles. While the Thai language is quite similar to the Chinese language in terms of grammatical structure, the Thai language doesn't have punctuation marks, lower or uppercase, conjugation or article. And Thai words do not change to reflect changes in tenses or from singular to plural words. Thai vocabulary includes many words from Old Khmer, Pali and Sanskrit including Arabic and French.
Thai writing is based on the Old Khmer alphabet. Because there are no punctuation marks or spaces between Thai letters, it is important to know where to place the letters in a Thai document. Hence because of all the linguistic and cultural hurdles present, Thai translation is challenging. And it would take an experienced translator who has a deep knowledge and understanding of the language and its culture, to accurately and successfully translate any content from Thai to English and vice-versa.
At Wordwise, our experienced translators and interpreters are well aware that the Thai language uses five registers depending on the social rank and social context. To achieve an accurate translation, our translators take all the linguistic and cultural factors into account when transposing from English to Thai or Thai to English, giving you high quality translated content that will reach out to your target customers.

Thai Language Facts
The Thai language is related to the Lao language and the dialects of northern Thailand are mutually intelligible with Lao. In Thailand, there are four major dialects that correspond to the southern, northern, northeastern and central regions of the country. Central or Bangkok Thai is taught in schools and it is the language used for most television broadcasts. Hence, it is widely understood in all the regions of Thailand.
The Thai writing system employs syllabic alphabets that are made up of 44 consonants and 15 basic vowel graphemes that can be assembled to produce 32 vowel combinations. Thai is written horizontally from left to right. The vowel graphemes are added either below, above, before or after the consonant that they alter. Because there are no punctuation marks, the end of a sentence and the beginning of a new sentence, is indicated by a space between them.
In order to achieve a translation that is accurate and natural, it is important know what the linguistic and cultural obstacles are. Because our native level speaking professionals at Wordwise are experienced, the relevant register is used when translating your content to effectively communicate your message to the target audience.
